Objects and images hold memories; they act as references for lived experiences and carry multiple meanings, both those inscribed by the artist and those we interpret as viewers. The act of remembering is mediated by anecdotes, associations, and evocations, allowing artworks to function simultaneously as cultural documents and deeply personal expressions. Selected by the staff of the HLºÚÁÏÃŲ»´òìÈ Museum of Art, this exhibition presents works from the permanent collection that explore memory and storytelling across a wide range of media and themes. “I remember when...â€ Reflections from the RMA Staff invites reflection on the power of art to tell stories and serve as a conduit for dialogues about the past and present.

Exhibition Funding Funding for exhibitions is provided in perpetuity through the Rachel and Kenneth Murrah Exhibition Fund and the Drey Exhibition Fund.

Additional Support Additional support for exhibitions at the HLºÚÁÏÃŲ»´òìÈ Museum of Art is provided, in part, by Orange County Government through the Arts & Cultural Affairs Program.

Image: Robert Henri (American, 1865-1929), Rosaleen, 1928, Oil on canvas 28x20in. On long-term loan from the Martin Andersen – Gracia Andersen Foundation, Inc.

Artworks will be rotated between Summer and Fall 2026.
